Welcome to Julie Del Catancio for Newark City Council 2024, Grassroots team. You are getting this email because you are a Newark resident, friend, or family, and your commitment to help win in 2024 is important.

I am running for Newark City Council.

Serving as Newark Planning Commissioner and Educator at Newark Unified School District is an honor.

I am excited to serve our Newark Community. I am honored to be endorsed by Alex Lee, California State Assembly; David W. Smith, Newark Mayor Emeritus; Alan Nagy, Newark Mayor Emeritus, and Luis L. Freitas, Newark Vice Mayor; Matthew Jorgens, Newark City Council, are the finest public servants of Newark will ever know. I am honored to have their support in this campaign, and your vote means a lot.

I am excited to run on the record of my commitment to Newark through living here for twenty years, and growing up in the Tri-City area. Together we have built a Newark that has a “small town feel.” I believe in public safety, community, and economic responsibility.

Public safety is the first priority. I attend captain's meetings, promote neighborhood watch teams, and promote identifying catalytic converters with Newark's grant for theft prevention. We have a wonderful home in Newark, and we can make it even stronger.

I am enthusiastic about working toward a shared vision of community resources for seniors and working adults and encompassing young adults into the fabric of our community. As a Newark planning commissioner, I promoted the Eden housing for seniors, which is being built near the city hall.

Economic responsibility entails how to use our funds. I voted affirmatively on the remaking of "old town Newark" so we can have a mixed-use facility of commercial and residential with 88 units, and 13 of those are for affordable housing for purchase; this is one of the first programs that Newark will have to allow individuals to apply to purchase condos for a below market price in a "Newark program." I also made a public comment and voted affirmatively for the remodeling of the McDonald's, which the owner wanted on Cedar Avenue, over the objection of the attorney of a nearby abandoned facility who opposed any change.

As I walk door to door on the campaign to meet with Newark residents and bring the choice to the voters in the fall on November 5, 2024, I have a distinct vision of our hometown, Newark.

I plan to work together to ensure that economic stability, community, and public safety are protected in Newark.

These are unprecedented times in Newark for the four-year term of 2024-2028. We are fast approaching the cusp of 50,000 residents in our town. We are shaping our future for our legacy and families. I need your support to fight for what you want and let your voice be heard. Please stand with me to build Newark.

Do you agree that real commitment = real results? Are you ready to pitch your first $20 to elect me as Newark City Council today? Any amount you can give at this time will be instrumental in our collective voice on how to shape our Newark home.
